Spread The Message

We encourage you to spread the important message about donation with everyone you know: family, friends, employers, employees, colleagues, neighbors and so on!

Listed below are a few ways you can spread the message throughout the year.
FEBRUARY
Feb.14 - National (Saturn) Donor Day
  • Host a Super Bowl Party and include pictures of athletes who have been touched by donation with your invitations.
  • Bake heart-shaped cookies, attach a tag labeled ‘Show Your Heart, Register As A Donor At www.donateLifetexas.org,’ and handout to friends, family, and colleagues.
MARCH
National Eye Donor Month
  • Make green Donate Life ribbons. Hand out during St. Patrick’s Day to friends, family and colleagues.
  • Send an email to your friends and colleagues. Remind them how you’ve been touched by eye/cornea donation and encourage them to register as donors at www.donateLIFEtexas.org
APRIL
National Donate Life Month
  • Participate or volunteer at the annual Vital Alliance memorial tree planting ceremony.
  • Obtain permission to place Donate Life brochures in your company break room.
  • Proudly wear a button picture of your loved one who was a donor or Donate Life lapel pin throughout the month. You’ll be surprised at the amount of conversations it will spark!
AUGUST
Aug.1 - National Minority Donor Awareness Day

Approximately 51% of individuals on the national transplant waiting list are minorities.

  • Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation.
NOVEMBER
National Donor Sabbath

National Donor Sabbath is celebrated during the month of November.  It is a time set aside for religious leaders of all denominations to talk about their faith’s support of donation.

All major religious organizations in the United States support organ, eye, and tissue donation as a compassionate gift.

  • Host a Donate Life awareness table at your house of worship or prayer breakfast.
  • Include Donate Life information in house of worship bulletin or newsletter.
  • Ask your religious leader to allow you to speak for 5 minutes to share your personal story during service.
DECEMBER/JANUARY
Donate Life Rose Parade Float

The float features 20+ float riders, each a transplant recipient, living donor, or family members of an organ, eye or tissue donor, and florographs of deceased donors.
